Joined the U.S. Army Environmental Hygiene Agency (now U.S.ArmyCenter for Health Promotion & Preventive Medicine – USACHPPM, Entomological Sciences Program), Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD in 1973.
Worked for several years in the field of environmental pesticide chemistry evaluating pesticide contamination problems at Army installations.
In 1981, began auditing Army installation pest management programs for compliance with environmental regulatory requirements.
For the past 20 years (1986-present): Conduct field studies and educational efforts related to Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses as a part of the USACHPPM’s overall mission to protect the soldier from arthropod-borne disease and maintain the readiness of America’s military fighting force. Oversee a Department of Defense Human Tick Test Kit Program, providing support to military health care providers and their tick-bite patients within the continental United States.
